I am, however, having some issues. This, the internet connection issue is the most pressing so I will address it first. I kept my workhorse laptop on Windows 8.1 so that I am able to diagnose and discuss the issues on my Desktop, which I use primarily for fun.

After startup the wifi card on my desktop recognizes and connects to any of the wifi networks in the house. I am able to surf using any app, browser, or program. I use google chrome, steam, starcraft II, OneNote, and a bunch of other programs that appear to work upon connection. I admit I have not had time to use anything other than the browsers because the time constraints of this issue but suffice it to say that I can use my browsers and there is no doubt that they connect to netflix, facebook, etc. Also I don't think that I have any weird apps or security programs could be blocking the connection.

Just like it says in the summary of my post I get great wifi connection anywhere from two minutes to a half hour after connection and then the connection drops. The PC does not allow me to reconnect until I restart my PC.

Solutions Attempted:

  1. Reboot :)
  2. Troubleshooting and diagnosing the networks
  3. Resetting the network adapter
  4. Uninstalling the wireless driver
  5. Updating the driver (already up to date though I fear this is the heart of the issue, as there is probably not a Windows 10 compatible driver yet)
  6. One link online suggested checking to make sure that the IPV4 and IPV6 settings were checked on the wireless properties (they were checked)
  7. One link online suggested I open Command Prompt and type a string of gibberish along the lines of HKCLRSID.. etc. and though I can't find the link now trust me whenI say that I checked and rechecked to make sure the command line was correct and that I tried several other variations suggested by other users.
