Gateway P7805U Mavericks - Working -
1- Follow TonyMacx86 Unibeast setup
http://www.tonymacx86.com/374-unibeast-install-os-x-mavericks-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html
2- At step 14 & 15 (which looks different than the actual install) select
legacy USB support and Laptop support.
STOP at step 18. This is where we venture off to get the P7805u up and running.
3- We will need to change out the WiFi card. I switched mine out with a WiFi NIC retreived from a Gateway NV series laptop. The card is an Atheros AR5B91. This can be found on Amazon (when i looked) for around 15$. This card works 'out of the box' NO need to install ANY network kexts through multibeast!
3- In the Gateway P7805u Bios select reset defaults then exit and save settings.
4- Plug in your Unibeast USB
5- At the BIOS screen hit F10 and select your USB drive.
6- At the Chimera boot menu you only need to enter 2 boot flags for the P7805u
enter: GraphicsEnabler=Yes, UseKernelCache=No
7- Hit enter and wait to install Mavericks.
-- Open utilities and format the hdd following TonyMacx86 directions http://www.tonymacx86.com/374-unibeast-install-os-x-mavericks-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html
'b. Highlight your target hard drive for the Mavericks installation in left column.'
'c. Click Partition tab'
'd. Click Current and choose 1 Partition'
'e. Click Options..'
'f. Choose GUID Partition Method'
'g. Under Name: type Mavericks (You can rename it later)'
'h. Under Format: choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled)'
'i. Click Apply then Partition'
'j. Close Disk Utility'
8- Once installed you will reboot.
9- Hit F10 at the BIOS and select your USB stick
10- Your Mavericks Install will be visible in the Chimera boot menu
11- Enter those same boot flags: GraphicsEnabler=Yes, UseKernelCache=No
and hit enter.
12- You will notice WiFi is up but you are missing sound.
13- Open multibeast:
a) click on the Drivers Tab - select Universal from the Audio menu and check VoodooHDA v0.2.56 (THIS one will get YOUR (P7805u) sound working)
b) Skip down to Misc - Select FakeSMC v5.3.820 and PS/2 Keyboard/Mice and Trackpads
c) Skip over to Customize - Select Basic Boot Options, GraphicsEnabler=Yes
d) THAT IS IT..now click on Build and then click on Install.
e) When it is done -- Navigate to /System/Library/Extensions and delete the AppleTyMCEDriver.kext file (If you don't your system will freeze up when you insert anything USB).
f) With your natively working Atheros card connect to some Internet and download the Kextutility - http://www.hackintoshosx.com/files/file/3640-kext-utility-for-mavericks/
This will rebuild your system Cache cause deleting stuff makes Mavericks mad
g) Download chimera standalone installer from TonyMacx86 -- http://www.tonymacx86.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=223
h) Install chimera to the drive you installed Mavericks to.
i) Navigate to Extras folder on your hard drive
j) Edit the org.chameleon.boot.plist file to permently add those 2 boot flags from earlier. Delete the instance of the entries and add them to the top of the file, on the next line below the <dict> line. Also change IGPEnabler string to no, Should look like this:
<dict>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>UseKernelCache</key>
<string>No</string>
<key>IGPEnabler</key>
<string>No</string>
a bunch of other entries...
</dict>
k) Do the same to your USB org.chameleon.boot.plist located on the USB in Extras folder.
l) Hold your breath.
Before we reset the system a disclaimer.
This worked for me. If you have something else to add please do.
My Gateway P7805u system is setup as follows:
CPU Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 / 2.26 GHz
Chipset Mobile Intel PM45 Express
Memory 8 GB-DDR3 SDRAM-1066 MHz / PC3-8500
HDD 320 Gig hdd - Serial ATA-150
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS - 1 GB GDDR3 SDRAM
Wireless NIC Atheros AR5B91 (Pulled from a Gateway NV5214u Laptop)
USB - Works
Volume Controls - Works
Screen Brightness - Works
WiFi Switch - No Effect but you can connect/disconnect through the OS. -- Button does work after all! (25 Aug 14)
Two finger scrolling and pinch zoom in Maps - Works
Untested:
HDMI
eSATA
1394
Ethernet (who uses wires nowadays)
VGA port
Card Reader
m) ok reset your system, take out the USB stick and let your system boot from the hdd.
no need to add boot flags..unless it doesn't boot but try to turn off and back on once more..if it still freezes at the apple then try the boot flags.
make sure the org.chameleon.boot.plist in /Extras was edited correctly.
n) your Gateway with Mavericks is now fully operational. Hopefully
Updates:
- Card Reader - uhm.. Mine is broken. oh well, got USB.
- External VGA - Works
- Sometimes the laptop freezes at the apple - is fixed with a reboot - will look into doing a verbose boot to see what's the problem
Update -- Laptop still freezes at the Chameleon boot progress indicator at or /. To fix this I have to hit F2 at boot, select load bios defaults then save and exit. Something is happening when it shuts down I think that causes this.. (25 Aug 14)
- The laptop went to sleep and never woke up. - will see if it is a screensaver thing or a power management thing. (im looking at you power management) --
-- Ok fixed these errors with a slight mod to the AppleRTC file and a the addition of '-v' flag to the /
'Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist' under kernel parameters.
Fixed with:
sudo perl -pi -e 's x75x2ex0fxb6 xebx2ex0fxb6 ' /System/Library/Extensions/AppleRTC.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleRTC
sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions
- Added IGP option to org.chameleon.boot.plist edit. P7805u doesn't use integrated graphics and turning this feature off seems to make booting more successful.
- Update (25 Aug 14) -- So I noticed the battery indicator never worked and at one point I hid it from the menu bar. But I decided I needed this to work. So Luckily I found the fix, and it WORKS.
- Follow the steps at (http://www.francescocrema.it/computer/make-battery-meter-work-on-a-mavericks-hackintosh-with-voodoobattery/).
- Note: The first time I did this Mavericks started complaining about not installing a couple of .kext files the right way. So, I undid the install and restored the files. Then I re-performed the steps and immediately rebooted. I now have a working battery indicator.

Xbox One Controller Driver For Mac

Okay, so I'm thinking about getting a laptop, and these two have become my final options, both of which I can get for around $1100-$1600.

Yeah, so just looking at the specs, it looks like the P-7805u wins, but I'm a high school student, so I'm not really buying this for the gaming. Mainly, I will be using this for Java, C++, Python and Ruby programming, mostly creating games, and some light graphics work, usually with GIMP. I do however want to throw in the occasional game of StarCraft or WarCraft, Halo PC, but nothing uber intensive like Crysis or Flight Simulator X. If I get the MacBook Pro, I will be doing most of my gaming on Windows 7 or XP though Boot Camp. Also, looks-wise, I am really leaning toward the MacBook Pro, and also, I get to throw in a free Ipod Touch, and that is a huge plus. Any thoughts would really be helpful, I need to know if there is some major factor I am missing here.
NOTE: I changed it to a 15-inch MacBook Pro.
Thanks to CNET for the specs!
