As per the description provided, it looks like you are facing an issue while connecting iomega hard drive.Rtl8139d win98 driver for mac.

1. Are you getting any error message or error code while connecting?
2. Is the other USB device works fine?

I would suggest you to check if the if the Hard disc is getting detected on Device manager.


Press Windows Key +R, type devmgmt.msc to open the Device Manager.

Try the following methods and check if it helps.


Method 1:


I would suggest you to run the hardware troubleshooter and check if it helps.
a. Press Windows key + W to search Settings.
b. Type “Troubleshoot” without quotes and click on Troubleshooting.
c. In the new window, click Hardware and Sound.

Method 2:

I would suggest you to download and install the latest drivers for iomega from the manufactures website.

Note: If the driver is not compatible with Windows 8 I would suggest you to install the driver in compatibility mode.

Refer the steps:

a.Download the Drive from the manufacture’s website, Right click on the setup file and select Properties.

b.Click the compatibility tab, tick the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows.

Note: I would recommend you to update the chipset drivers from the manufacture’s website.
