A Krispy Kreme delivery van driver was jailed after Melbourne police said he 'maliciously' slashed another motorist’s tire after getting an unsolicited tip on how to drive.
The incident happened about 1 p.m. Friday on Eau Gallie Boulevard as a couple rolled up to the van in a turning lane and told him to slow down when approaching red lights. Two stories have since emerged.
One, from the driver, that he approached the intersection when the couple cut him off, causing him to honk before they pulled up and cursed him; the other, from police, that the delivery driver, Iman Elder, got out of his van, walked up to the couple’s car and told the driver that he 'should slash their tire.' Police said Elder pulled out a pocket knife and crouched down on the driver’s side.
The driver of the car told officers that he heard the sound of air escaping from the left front tire of his vehicle and watched as Elder walked back to the van and rode off.
The driver whose tire was slashed gave officers the tag number of the Krispy Creme van and later identified the driver as Elder. Melbourne police later spotted Elder at a nearby gas station and arrested him.

Elder told FLORIDA TODAY: 'All I did was honk. .. I was scared, I didn't do anything,' Elder said.
Elder said he got out of the Krispy Kreme truck, inspected the vehicle and then left.
Melbourne police did not immediately respond to inquiries about the incident.

The tire was valued at about $150, reports show.
Police charged Elder, 33, with criminal mischief in connection with the tire slashing. He was booked into the Brevard County Jail Complex on a $500 bond.
